Si has suggested, and I really should have thought about it before now to be honest, to include links to the matches I am referring to. So here they are, please let me know what you think and if you prefer it without of without them.

We kick off with a gem of a run chase for the Sunday 1sts against Hucknall. Losing the toss and having to field first, CACC struggled as Underwood reached 232/8 in their 40 overs. Gramps the pick of the bowlers with 3/45 and 2 wickets for Locky including a stumping, the batsman must have been a loooong way down to not get back in time! Usually a challenging score but knocked off just 3 wickets down with Rich Mintoft carrying his bat 156 not out, including partnerships of 56 with Si, 78 with Milly and 89 with Grant.

Meanwhile the Sunday 2nds were defending a low total having been bowled out for 103 against Sherwood, with just Steve Cross and Dan reaching double figures. No problem at all as Sherwood were skittled for just 56, Dan returning remarkable figures of 6/6 from 9 overs, a great day all round.

Whist the Saturday 1st team put a side out to beat Norton Oakes in a cup match, a Sunday team had to travel to Cresswell where they fielded first and did fairly well to bowl them out for 186. Andy Tye pick of the bowlers with 3fer, the skipper Grant using a total of 7 bowlers including a 3 over stint for Harry Woodford (0/31), not sure if Grant had seen Harry bowl before?
In response the scorecard does not look good at the top, with ducks for 1, 3 and 4 ensuring that we got off to a terrible start. Hex stood strong and finished on 67 as CACC only managed 133 all out in reply. The main reason I include this game is because Creswell's opening bowler took 6 wickets, 5 bowled and 1 LBW, so as he was obviously bowling straight I CANNOT believe that he didn't get Hex out LBW as well!

Two games to highlight how difficult it can be to compete in Sunday league cricket when there are cup fixtures scheduled.
Firstly, the Saturday 1st team hosted Wath in the first round of the Whitworth Cup. Batting first a fine opening partnership of 121 between Big Dave (51) and CACC's first overseas player Jonathan Bosch (80) set us on the way to a competitive total of 206. Wath didn't start well, collapsing to 37/4 meaning it was always going to be an uphill struggle, but came fairly close in the end eventually all out for 181. 3 wickets each for Reece and Boschy, and the overseas player seemingly a good idea.......

Meanwhile however, the Sunday team made the short journey to Parkhead and did not fare as well. Disaster loomed as we lost the toss and were asked to field. Despite 5 early wickets, a massive partnership then saw Parkhead reach 374/9 from their 40 overs. Some interesting bowling figures in there as you would expect, I imagine Dan will enjoy Chris Park's figures of 2 overs 0/50, who I personally hope was bowling in partnership with Dom at the other end, returning 2 overs 0/40.
In reply CACC fell just short, finishing on 166/4, and the entertainment was not just limited to the first innings, with Grant carrying his bat for 40 not out, from the 40 overs faced!

That's about all for this weekend, just to finish with an honorable mention for Brett who scored 71* on this day 11 years ago, including 13 fours and 2 sixes chasing a total of just 139 against Grassmoor, a joy to watch from the other end.
